With a noble aim to provide best medical treatment to the poor and needy patients, with the consent of three young enthusiastic doctors to spare an hour or two twice in a week a small dispensary Sarvajanik DharmarthDawakhana under the auspices management of Saiyedpura Muslim Association was declared open on 30th May 1969.
Shri Hitendra Desai, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat State was the Chief Guest of the function and Hajee Ahmed Botawala the Managing Trustee of Botawala Charities, Rander was presided over the function.
Only 30 paise was charged for the Medicine and a Rupee one if an injection was to be given.
With experience of one year and the need of the public it was decided to make an humble attempt to make the beginning of the hospital with 10 beds. During March 1974 THE SARVAJANIK MEDICAL TRUST was constituted in 03-03-1974 with main noble cause of establishing Hajee A.M. Lockhat and Dr. A.M. Moolla Sarvajanik Hospital to provide best medical treatment to the poor and middle class people free of cost or other wise. The trust was officially registered under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 on 19th July 1975 in the office of the Assistant Charity Commissioner Surat Division, Surat vide Registration No: F-203/Surat, the Trust was also registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 on 19th July 1975 in the Office of the Assistant Registrar of Societies, Surat Division, Surat at vide Registration No: Gujarat/280/Surat.
The Sarvajanik College of Physiotherapy offering BPT degree of 4 1/2 years started with 20 seats started from 2001 has completed its 21st year, present intake capacity is 47 seats. The result of final year exam of four consecutive batches is 100%, it’s a matter of pride for Students, Teaching, Non Teaching Faculty and the management.
